He is professor em. of Information Technologies and Educational Processes. At present he is head of the research group COBASC in the Department of Economics of the University of Duisburg-Essen. In addition, he acts as editor of the series “Computersimulationen in den Sozialwissenschaften” of the VS-Verlag (Springer group).
His main field of research is the development of theories on social and cognitive dynamics, based on the construction and investigation of according computer models, and the analysis of formal models suited for the simulation of social, cognitive, and economical processes.
